Practicing Sustainability -Gardening

Pet Rocks makes the perfect kids art and craft activity. This is a form of Process Art which sneaks in a lot of important learning.

The Caterpillar children demonstrated interest in finding and collecting rocks from the garden and they like to keep those rocks with them. To further extend on their interest the educators provided them the opportunity to turn the rocks into a pet- Pet Rocks. They used googly eyes, yarn hair and painted mouth. The children decided to keep the pet rocks with them and take care of them like their pet. They were able to understand the responsibility to have a pet and how to take care of them.
Here at Learning Ladder, to provide opportunities and learning experiences to the children based on Children’s Interest and incorporate it in our Curriculum Planning. We are committed to teach our children sustainable practices encouraging them to embed them in their lives from this early age.
The children here developed their caring and empathy for living beings, fine motor skills, imagination, creativity and connection with their environment.
