At Learning Ladder, our little learners had a wonderful time diving into a Hungry Caterpillar–themed sensory play! The educator created an inviting setup where children explored colourful sensory materials while “feeding” the hungry caterpillar. Using tools like tongs, spatulas, and scoops, they strengthened their fine-motor skills, practiced hand–eye coordination, and enjoyed the tactile experience of touching, sorting, and moving different items.

To enrich the experience, the children also listened to a read-aloud of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, connecting the story to their hands-on play. Watching their excitement as they matched foods from the book to the sensory setup was a joy! This activity not only sparked creativity and curiosity but also supported early literacy and imaginative learning.
