What should you pack for childcare?

To ensure your child’s experiences a smooth and enjoyable transition to childcare at Learning Ladder, it’s important that you pack everything they need to feel comfortable and happy throughout the day.

Here’s our list of childcare essentials and nice-to-haves:

1. A change of clothes

It’s essential to provide a change of clothes to suit the weather or to prepare for your child getting dirty during messy play. This may include socks, pants, t-shirts and/or outerwear like jackets or raincoats. If your little one might be prone to toilet/potty accidents, pack additional underwear as well.

2. A special toy or comforter

Many children get upset when they are separated from their favourite toys or comforters. If your little one has any special items, make sure to pack them. Having something familiar to hold onto can help soothe them and make them feel more comfortable in their new environment, especially during naptime.

3. A clean water bottle

It’s important that your child stays hydrated, especially when they are active or playing in hot weather. So, it’s important to pack a clean water bottle that can be refilled throughout the day.

4. A winter coat and beanie or a summer hat/legionnaire

Depending on the season, your child will need either a coat or hat to beat the cold or heat during outdoor play. Make sure you pack these items ahead of time so that your little one can easily access them when needed.

5. A family photograph

Packing a family photo that your child can take to the childcare centre is a great way to help your little one feel more comfortable and connected to you while they’re away from home. It can also serve as a source of pride when your child shows it to educators and other children.

By packing these items for your child, clearly labelled with your child’s name, you can help ensure that they have a positive and enjoyable experience while you’re away.
